When I left the UK in 1979 to live in the USA I had a plan to publish Talk & Grow Rich. I remember getting three rejections very quickly, more or less on arrival and was sitting on Santa Monica pier feeling quite sorry for myself. A well dressed gentleman sat next to me and started chatting, he wanted to know why I look so depressed. I told him of my plight and he chuckled. “Three rejection slips! You haven’t even started yet! In actual fact, I don’t think you really tried! When you have had a hundred or two hundred or even three hundred rejection slips you can say you tried. But long before then, if that does happen, I hope you’ll alter your strategy.” Of course he was right, and as they say, the rest is history. If you keep on keeping on – you create your own breaks.
